Housed in Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Art welcomes all to register for an upcoming virtual information session on Tuesday, December 17, at 4pm (CST). Thanks to a generous gift from the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation in 2017, the school has been able to expand graduate program offerings and provide this unprecedented level of financial support.
In the fall of 2022, the School of Art launched the accredited Master of Arts in Art Education and Master of Design in Communication Design graduate programs.
The two-year MA in Art Education program is designed for students seeking to expand and deepen their knowledge of theory and practice in art education. It trains art educators to be culturally responsive and use interdisciplinary, collaborative teaching and research to address current and future challenges in art education.
Also two years, the MDes graduate program focuses on communication and participatory design, preparing students to inspire and generate equitable and sustainable solutions for their communities and beyond through design.
As Art Education and Graphic Design welcomed their first cohort of students, the Art History program launched their Master of Art degree in partnership with Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, specializing in the study of the arts of the Americas. Students experience an innovative program that reimagines what art history can be through a theme-based curriculum, hands-on learning with objects, unique opportunities for travel, and internship experiences designed to propel students into diverse arts careers.
These new graduate programs enhance the interdisciplinary vision for the School of Art and build upon the established Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art program. The three-year, in-residence MFA program is designed to support a variety of approaches to art making, coupled with rigorous theoretical inquiry, research, and social awareness.
Applications for all graduate programs are due January 15, 2025.
