Carwow auctions to open over Christmas to help dealers benefit from demand spike

Online car platform Carwow will continue to run daily auctions throughout the festive period to help dealers source high-quality used stock and respond quickly to the anticipated seasonal demand.

Auctions will be run Monday-Saturday up to and including Monday 23 December, and then again between Friday 27 December and Tuesday 31 December. After a one-day New Year hiatus, Carwow’s daily auctions will resume on Thursday 2 January.

Carwow traffic increased by 34% from Christmas Day to Boxing Day last year, and then accelerated rapidly, seeing record traffic levels throughout the first quarter.

The online marketplace expects Christmas 2024 and Q1 2025 to follow suit, and encourages dealers to ensure their forecourts are well stocked and vehicles expertly merchandised through online channels.

Carwow’s vehicle collection, protection and delivery service ‘Carwow Collects’ can also make the changeover process stress-free for dealers and consumers alike, whilst also providing financial protection.

Its support team will be available to assist with any sales or collections queries until close of business on Monday 23 December, opening again from Thursday 27 December. It will also assist with any urgent collections between the 28 and 31 December, with normal collections service resuming from Thursday 2 January.

Daniel Boakes, Carwow commercial director, said: “There’ll be dealers up and down the UK working between Christmas and New Year. We want to ensure our dealers are supported with their stock sourcing needs throughout this period in readiness for increased consumer activity from Boxing Day.

“Our data shows that consumer activity accelerates rapidly from Boxing Day and continues throughout the first quarter of the year. Much like planning New Year’s resolutions, many people use this time to consider changing their car. We see more people coming to Carwow in the period between Boxing Day and New Year to start researching their next new or used car and consider selling their current car via our daily auctions.”
