When Ryan Routh, the man accused of attempting to assassinate Donald Trump on September 15, landed in Honolulu in June 2023 on his way home from Ukraine and went through customs, the spontaneous comments he made caused US Customs and Border Patrol agents to interview him on the spot and flag him for further investigation by the Department of Homeland Security, according to an exclusive report at Just The News.

However, DHS officials declined to pursue the case, according to records reviewed by the outlet.
“‘HSI was contacted and refused the case,’ the interview memo stated.”
The records further reflected that CBP officials were aware of Routh’s travels to Warsaw, Poland, and Istanbul, Turkey, in 2022 and 2023. In addition, they reveal that Routh:
“[A]dmitted in his interview that he had been recruiting as many as 100 foreign fighters from Taiwan, Afghanistan and Moldova to join Ukraine’s war against the Russian invasion.
“Routh even gave U.S. agents who interviewed him a business card that portrayed him as the director of a group called the “International Volunteer Center” that also claimed to have contact in Syria, Pakistan and Israel. He also described who had underwritten his efforts to recruit foreigners to assist Kyiv.
“‘Subject is a USC who had traveled to Kiev, Ukraine for 3 months to help recruit Soldiers from Afghanistan, Moldova, and Taiwan, to fight in the Ukrainian war against Russia,’ the CBP interview notes of Routh state.
We also learned how Routh’s travels are funded — well, how he claims they’re funded, at least.
‘Subject stated that he does not get paid for his recruiting efforts and all his work for the Ukrainian government is strictly volunteer work Subject provided his recruiting business card (cards have been uploaded into the event) which list his recruiting partners that he speaks with to recruit soldiers from Afghanistan, Romanian, Pakistan, Syria, and Israel,’ the note added. Subject stated that he obtains money from his wife to help fund his trips to Ukraine.’
That card was for the International Volunteer Center in Ukraine, and listed alleged partners across the globe. According to people at the International Volunteer Center, the organization was formed after Routh returned to the United States in June 2023 and they’ve never had any contact with him.

According to immigration records reviewed by Just the News, Routh was in Europe between April and September 2022, and between March and June 2023:
During the first trip, Routh left the United States from Los Angeles, bound for Warsaw. He returned to the U.S. in September via Amsterdam. Several months later, Routh departed for Istanbul in March 2023 and returned to Honolulu in June 2023 via Japan.
Given what this guy was doing in Ukraine and his interactions with CBP agents and with a CIA agent (as Susie reported Monday), and the fact that a nurse working in Ukraine brought Routh to the attention of CBP as a dangerous person, there’s no way the various intelligence agencies in our country didn’t have him on their radar or under constant surveillance. If Tucker Carlson interacting with people in Russia for an interview was enough to have his Signal account hacked and communications tapped, with the level of interaction Routh was having with foreign agents around the world he had to have had a FISA warrant active on his communications, right? Perhaps we will find out.
